COLLEGE 101

Boys’ State is for rising high school seniors because participants will soon be of age to vote.  We want you to be prepared.

In the next year Boys’ State citizens will make a decision that will have significant impact on their life’s path.  Where will I go to college?  We want you to be prepared for this decision too.

College graduates have a longer life expectancy and are less likely to be unemployed or divorced.  College can be expensive, but on average college graduates earn $1 million more over their working lives than those with a high school diploma. In addition, college graduates have more options in the type of work they choose.

College 101 is designed to help you find the college best suited for you.  Whether you plan to apply to the Ivy League or your local community college there will be something of interest for everyone at this workshop.

PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN:

  • How and Where to begin their college search.
  • How to prepare for campus visits and interviews.
  • How to market yourself through your application and in interviews.
  • How to maximize Financial Aid and Scholarships.

You’ll have the opportunity to ask Admission experts your questions about college.  Past participants at this workshop include Admission professionals from Anderson University, Clemson University, the University of South Carolina-Columbia and Wofford College.

If you’re interested in insider information and a jump start on your college search, College 101 is the place to be at Boys’ State.
